Sooooooo since I'm moving back to Jville I've been calling around for homeowners insurance quotes. Progressive doesn't offer it in onslow (that's who our car ins is through)...then I thought how about USAA? That's who had before we moved to PA. Well they must be smoking crack, because homeowners + wind/hail was over $2200!!! I understand rates have gone up, but three years ago both policies were less than $1000 for us...well long story short I called Nationwide, and for both policies our premium is $1100 with more coverage! Car insurance is less than both USAA and progressive too with more coverage! Just needed to share my excitement - and if you're in the market for insurance call Nationwide :)

I've had nationwide for years for auto insurance and have been really pleased.
When you file a claim with them it's so easy and they're really quick to pay.

I called USAA for home owners recently, they literally wanted triple. I was like um so much for being discounted for military, your rates are triple.

We went with an independent local company, they had great rates and awesome service.

Our insurance is about 1100 for both which is awesome considering our proximity to the water in Sneads Ferry.

usaa doesn't deal out their own wind and hail. Its contracted out or something?? Which is why you probably had to talk to the home owners insurance department and wind and hail.

nationwide still sells their own wind and hail so they can sell it cheaper :D We just bought a house a few months ago and had been with USAA before for car insurance/renters. Now we are all with nationwide.

Yes you are right - USAA doesn't sell their own wind/hail insurance. Still I think it's insane that they could be charging more than double compared another company! Just so glad that I called around, or else I would be paying wayyyyy too much...
