i need somewhere i can take out a small 100$-200$ loan preferably not a bank but an actual loan place. im not military if that makes any difference in where i get it. my husbands birthday is on wednesday and with our bills we had to pay we didnt have much left over for his bday. any help is appreciated.
I would go to one of the credit unions and see about getting a loan. Going to a loan place will cost you a fortune in interest and you could give him a card with a note saying Birthday Present will be arriving such and such date.
Get him a card and tell him the situation. Most adults should understand and aren't going to care. If he has a problem with it, he's an a$$ and doesn't deserve anything anyways ;P
are there even any payday loan places in Jacksonville? They are illegal in NC, last I read.
Like the rest said, he's an adult, it can wait. He knows how the finances are. If not, then he needs to know and understand where you all are at. If you feel you *have* to get him something, think about pawning/selling something instead of a loan of any kind.
I agree about not going to a loan place. I'm assuming he's aware of the financial situation at the moment so let's say you wanted to buy him an xbox, just write in the card that come payday he gets to go get his xbox or whatever you want to give him.
I have been there done that. I know you want to make your husband feel special, but you don't have to do anything big. Just make the night all about him. For example my husband typically helps with dishes and getting our baby to bed and then plays some xbox. I would let him off the hook the entire night as a bday gift. I would take care of all the chores for the evening and not complain about him playing xbox all night. He would appreciate that more than anything.
I agree with everyone that said wait. He might even get upset if he found out you took out a loan for his present, that's more money coming out of you guys' pocket in the "short" run, and could make you more financially strapped then you appear to be already. ------------ Opinion: Most guys don't care too much about getting big presents anyways. They're not like girls and know they are loved even if you forgot to tell him "happy birthday" If I was broke, I'd honestly get my husband a card, and when I got paid just take him out somewhere telling him it's his late birthday present, and then later on when you/ he has money and he wants that expensive item, you don't make a big deal of it (and mentally take note that you didn't get to give him a big gift for his birthday, instead of telling him "i really need my hair done with that money" You "allow" him to purchase it.
If times are tights, make it a priority to have a homecooked meal, bake a cake and give him an "IOU" for a movie date.
You can't put a price on being smart with your money.
We have had to skip a few holidays/birthdays because money was tight. As you mature and get past having to buy "things" for each other, you just accept that sometimes all the "stuff" isnt important.
i know you said you're not military... but FYI for others: Navy marine Corps Relief Society loans out up to $300 interest free with active duty ID card and current LES. It's called a Quick Assist Loan.

True, but from what I heard it has to be for an emergency or for bills. They write it out directly to the place it's supposed to go to, not to you.
nope. on quick assist loans, you just mark the box that best applies to your reason for need and the check is payable to the service member. on traditional loans from them, yes, they do financial counseling, then write checks to vendor
you are right. their loans are not meant to be used for non-necessity things. however, the quick assist loan bypasses the interview ...and most clients dont bother to divulge what they are using the money for.
Not sure if you have this in Jacksonville, but in Havelock they have OMNI Financial. Google: "OMNI Financial in Havelock, NC" and it will bring up the info.
