I received a deposit of almost three thousand dollars from II MEF DISBURSINMisc Pay. I have done just about everything I can to figure out what the money is for. A lot of people online say they got a similar deposit and they thought it was from selling leave back when they EAS. However I haven't sold any leave and I don't EAS for a couple more years. I did apply for a reimbursement for the costs of moving my wife and our belongings here to Jacksonville, but I am fairly certain that I already received that payment. I would just like to know if I can spend this money or not. I would hate to have to pay back that much if it was a mistake. 

I sure as heck wouldn't touch it until you know for sure.

DLA is based on rank, so it would all depend on that. :)

j/k I agree with everyone else, dont touch it until IPAC tells you that you are really supposed to have it. 

Don't you have to apply for DLA? They just don't give it because you moved do they? 

You have to fill out the paperwork for it and turn stuff in once you get to your new duty station same as everything else really. 

my husband has always filled out the paperwork at his outgoing duty station. He's always received advance travel and DLA.
usually received about 10 days before he checks out. 

We couldn't do it for Lejeune to Pendleton until we got to Pendleton. IDK why but thats what happened. 

oh, that sucks. I hated having to pay for all the deposits and crap before we got the money for it with our last move away from Lejeune. 

Not trying to be snarky but you should be asking IPAC not complete strangers. ;). Either they won't know or will tell you the same thing. 

Weird, we got DLA on the Lejeune end, not Pendleton. All we got after we arrived here was the rest of our weight, and the TLA. 

we've always received it on the outgoing end. Unless you count the year we got it going AND coming. lol Yes, it was received twice. Oops!

no, it shouldn't be a surprise. However, if this is his first PCS with a family he may not realize what all his entitlements are.
He did say that he already received travel. They are usually deposited together. I can't remember if it's one or two, but usually at the same time. IME, anyway.

That's why he's best off going to Ipac and asking. They should be able to look it up and tell him what it was for.

The told us it had something to do with proving everyone came with him? But if it's based on rank rather than who was displaced that wouldn't make sense. Maybe I am thinking TLA.. Idk. That move was a bit traumatizing, I'm still trying to forget it ever happened. lol

The dust storm topped by a snow storm all on the same day did it for me. I was so done following the husband at that point.
