Anyone ever get charged for a doctor requesting your medical records from a previous doctor you had seen?

I just got my very first bill ever for this sort of thing. I knew it was common practice to charge for records the patient requested personally, but not for doctors who requested it. Jeeeeze.

Yes. Many times. Even for having them fill out paperwork for things.

Well, in case you or anyone else would like to avoid some of those fees, Carolina East Internal Medicine in Pollocksville is one that charges the patient when another doctor requests medical records.

:D

Wow that's new to me! In fact every doc I've had always tells me that I the doc requests it, it's free.

money is tight all over, man! ;)

It costs money and manpower to get medical records copied, if they gave records away for free, it could end up being a large business expense. This is common. I've worked in health care for many years and I've seen this many times.
