Hey everyone. just looking for some help. i live in Il but moving out to the Onslow/Camp Lejeune area soon. but i don't know the area and can't seem to find a property that takes section 8.I have 3 little girls so i can't just go out there and "stay with a freind" until i can find a place. if any of you know of houses,apts or realtors that take it i would appreciate it. i am looking for a 3 bedroom. anything after that is fine. i already have a voucher here, so i just have to transfer it. just can not find a place. PLEASE help.

If you already have your voucher, you probably have already been working with the section 8 people, but now just need to find a place.

Try calling local real estate agencies to see whether they will accept a section 8 voucher. Or you could find a realtor who will do that for you and help you find a place.

I take section 8, but I'm not in J'ville.

well for a couple reasons. mainly because i have family and friends out there and it is nice there. it is a ton cheaper then Chicago, and i need a fresh start.

We looked into apartments in Chicago back before DH enlisted. INSANE!! 1 bedroom apartments for $1500 a month are a big change when the average rent for a 3 bedroom house in your hometown is $400!! I settled for a community college near home.
DH's uncle was dating a HS teacher from CHicago at one time and she was 34 and lived with 2 roommates so she could afford her condo. 

I used to have a Section 8 tenant. It's up to the property owner whether they want to accept it. There's a LOT of empty rentals on the market right now so you'll probably be able to find someone willing.
