So friggin' sad!

http://www.ktla.com/news/landing/ktla-forgotten-tot-dies,0,2021584.story

MEEKER, OK -- A 2-year-old girl is dead after she was left inside a car for close to 7 hours Wednesday.

The girl's mother, Sarenity Morse, says a friend was supposed to drop the young girl and two other children off at the Tender Care Daycare Wednesday morning.

"She just did what she's used to, got her two boys out, wasn't used to Atrinity being with her in the morning and she forgot her," says Morse.

The family says the friend then drove to work at another daycare in Meeker, not realizing that the young girl was still in the back seat.

Atrinity's mother also works at that daycare.

Around 3:30 p.m., the two of them drove back to the Tender Care Daycare to pick up their kids.

When the daycare told them the 2-year-old was not there, they went back out to the mini-van and found Atrinity in the back seat.

The family says paramedics were unable to revive the young girl.

Meeker Police are investigating the child's death.

That sounds like a case a few years back. The mom just forgot her kid was in the car.

That's awful. :(

Monkey Manners --- 15 years ago -

I have bad memory and sh!t but I don't think (I at least hope I wouldn't) ever forget a kid in my car. I mean seriously? unless it's like a car with 50 rows of seats and you shoved the kid in the very last row.

Erin Marie --- 15 years ago -

I agree, MM.

And how can you not be mad at something like this? If my friend forgot about my child, I'd be furious!

Maureenie --- 15 years ago -

I put my purse in the back seat that way I HAVE to go back there and look. Sometimes Cadence is so quiet I get a panic feeling like I left her somewhere. I always have to reach back and touch her head or arm or something to make sure she is there. I know I would never forget her somewhere but it always scares me.

I think she may still be in shock about it. I'm sure she will be angry once it settles in.

Erin Marie --- 15 years ago -

Yeah, probably.

I need to stop reading the news. There are so many stories on baby and toddler deaths. It's depressing me.

Maureenie --- 15 years ago -

It really gets to me too. I stopped reading that stuff. I wanted to do social work because of all the stuff I was reading but I would get to emotionally involved with my cases.

QuickBlubbersMcGee --- 15 years ago -

That's a sin!

I nearly forgot about Jake once! He was like 4 weeks old. I dropped JoJo and my MIL off at the beach and was driving home. Part way there I lit a cigarette!!!! I totally forgot the baby was in the car! I got like 3 drags before i realized what I was doing and threw it out the window.

Susie Homemaker --- 15 years ago -

I don't have kids, but I can't imagine forgetting another human being is in the car.
I asked my mom if she ever forgot about me in the car. She said no, I was quiet, but she always knew I was there.

The Original LM --- 15 years ago -

I had this dream that I was driving and I saw Ryan in the bed of the truck, clinging to the side. I usually set my purse there when I put him in, but in my dream I had put my purse in the carseat instead.

Ever since then, I find myself double checking. He always gets a giggle out of it, we'll be driving along and I'll reach my hand back there and feel around and touch his cheeks. He's still rear facing so I can't just look at him.

Hawkeye's♡Honey --- 15 years ago -

So sad.

My mom never forgot me but she said she was always scared she would bc I was so quiet. Said she was always reaching back to check on me and make sure I hadn't disappeared.

Both my kids are little chatter boxes in the backseat usually.

I never thought I could either. I was just so used to having just JoJo and having him with me ALL THE TIME that when he I dropped him off I forgot about the baby being in there. It's also not hard when haven't really slept in a month.

Erin Marie --- 15 years ago -

Haha, K usually babbles or she will fall asleep. I also check on her. I have my diaper bag in the back, but not my purse. I always remember though.

Dude, get the 2 mirrors! It is one of the best things I think we got for the kids!

The Original LM --- 15 years ago -

He's well over the weight requirement, we're just waiting on that birthday to roll around. About 7 weeks and he'll be 1!!! I bought one Buzz Lightyear last night for him, I have to wrap it and put it up in the closet still.

Erin Marie --- 15 years ago -

Our babies are growing up so fast!

The Original LM --- 15 years ago -

I know Erin! Ry is walking everywhere now. He prefers it to crawling. :) He's getting in those top two teeth, but it's taking forever! His hair is getting really long, but I think we'll leave it that way

HiImKia --- 15 years ago -

That's awful :( Ugh, my stomach hurts, so terrible.

I read an article a couple years ago about a father who forgot his baby in the car. His wife always took it to daycare and it slipped his mind. :( Ahh, I can't even imagine!

You don't have to switch them around at 1, it's safer to stay rear facing until they reach the max (rear facing) weight for your car seat model, usually around 35lbs! :)

Maureenie --- 15 years ago -

Mine will be 2 in August and we still have her backwards. I like it because when she sleeps she doesn't slump forward. She can recline when rear-facing so it's better.

HiImKia --- 15 years ago -

My husband worries about her legs as she's starting to get taller, but it doesn't seem to bother her, and studies have shown that it's not safety hazard.

Haha, K has 4 top teeth and 2 bottom teeth. Those sh!ts are sharp!!

Erin Marie --- 15 years ago -

I also like backwards the best. She isn't bothered by it.

It's true. My daughter's legs are pretty long but she does fine. It doesn't bother her. Even better, when she is mad and kicking the seat it's the back of the seat and not the back of my seat!

QuickBlubbersMcGee --- 15 years ago -

I flipped both of mine between 13-15 months.

LM, even if your kids are front facing, if you don't have the extra mirror you should get one. They're great! You can see who is starting the fight, why they're crying, if they choke etc.

But I doubt you'd forget about him for 7 hours like the mom in the story. :(

A friend of mine forgot her kid was in the car when she came back from grocery shopping once. She remembered about 5 minutes later, though.

Oh heck no, at least I don't think I could. Never have, and now they are too old to forget! lmao!

See that's the stuff I mean. What I did and what she did. It happens, I don't know how people don't realize in less than death time though.

HiImKia --- 15 years ago -

DH forgot about ME in the car last summer when he ran into work to get something on leave. He always takes his keys out out of habit, but I didn't think about it until I got uncomfortable. It doesn't take but 10 minutes for a car to become an oven in June in NC. He locked it, again out of habit, but I couldn't stand it after about 10 minutes. I got out and stood by the car with the alarm going off like an idiot until he came out. He got caught up in helping someone with paperwork, or something, IDK.

I'd be lying if I said I don't text him every time he's running around with A to ask how she's doing. I'd probably do that even if he didn't try to cook me, though.

ncnative --- 15 years ago -

I have to think some of these cases aren't accidents. It seems like once a couple of cases made the news, there started to be a huge increase in them happening.

Krystal in NC --- 15 years ago -

I'm confused. It says they drove back to the day care. Were they in a different car? That is the part that I don't get.

Sometimes when we go places I think that I forgot Kaitlynn at home b/c she is so quiet in the car. I feel a little bit of panic but when I notice that she's there I feel better.
