Has anyone went there to get a tubal reversal there before? Does Tricare cover this? Any information would be helpful thanks

Dionne --- 15 years ago -

Yes tri-care does cover it. This is something that you should discuss with your care provider

Monkey Manners --- 15 years ago -

I have done the paperwork for it. You have to get referred to OB GYN at Naval (if they aren't your PCM already) and fill out a ton of paperwork to start the process. If they approve you then Tricare covers some if not all.

Thats wierd i have a couple of friends here one just did it and another doing it and they didn't say anything about tri-care not covering the whole thing

Jessica H --- 15 years ago -

Thanks Dionne Im going to look into it :)

My husband just went for a vasectomy reversal- we went in April- pretty long process we were on the wait list for 18 months

Totally random and has absolutely nothing to do with the topic, but I love Walter Reed ♥ I'm there at least once a week I can tell you that Walter Reed is closing it's current location and in September 2011 they will be in a new building, merging with Bethesda at the Bethesda location. Bethesda is also awesome though, that's where my PCM is. The doctors up here are fantastic.

I agree they were all very nice- hubby actually had to go to MD for the surgery which was very small and kind of creepy but walter reed was great

ces1 --- 15 years ago -

They were slated to close before the War was declared and move to the Bethesda location, but the space was needed for our military so I did hear that the move was postponed. I always thought both hospitals were terrific.

I don't know when you went but it's not small now at least. I've only been in the older parts but they are also building on to accommodate the merger between the hospitals. Ces, I think I read they decided in 2005 that it would be done. Of course they had to build up Bethesda first to accommodate it but I don't know if there were delays in building or something. I know that Bethesda will only see pregnant patients and not non ob gynecological care. That's why I have 2 doctors at Walter Reed because Bethesda couldn't fit me in. But when I called to make my first appointment at WR they asked if I wanted to come in the same day! I declined and had an appointment for a couple of days later. Very fast and fantastic service. I've encountered a lot of people at both hospitals and they always go way above and beyond what I could ask for and always so friendly.

Not sure of the name of the hospital but it was at ft. mead- it really scared me- I felt like we were in the 50's or something it was so small and everything was so disorganized.

Why should Tricare pay for a tubal reversal?

dmc... --- 15 years ago -

link title I guess you can go to any board and get different answers.

Muse --- 15 years ago -

I personally think Walter Reed sucks. That's JMO of course.

Why should Tricare pay for a tubal reversal? No kidding.

I personally think Walter Reed sucks. That's JMO of course. Really? I've only gone to the gynecologist clinic there. Literally less than 10 feet from the door on the bottom floor. They are FANTASTIC. Wait, I did have a consultation elsewhere and that was great too.

Muse --- 15 years ago -

Really? Yes, unfortunately. My son was being followed by them when we were in Quantico. He NEVER got better. He was hospitalized and we got to the room and it was FILTHY. I hit the freaking roof and called the nurse and I called patient advocacy. They didn't clean the room for 3 days while he was IN the hospital and I told the nurses several times to send them in. I just ended up doing it myself. After that, I refused to let him be an inpatient there. I had no choice on where he was followed; we had to go to Walter Reed but I never let him stay there again

Someone --- 15 years ago -

That's bad. Could you have transfered to Bethesda? I actually find it easier to get to. I realize it doesn't matter now, just curious.

Muse --- 15 years ago -

I couldn't because Bethesda didn't have a Pediatric GI doc :/

Someone --- 15 years ago -

That would be a good reason not to transfer :-) One of my doctors at WR is only available there. There aren't many of them in the country, none in Jacksonville.

Actually, Tricare does NOT cover this. Tricare will only cover the consultation with the OBGYN surgeon, but not the surgery itself. The patient will have to pay out of pocket for the procedure. I only comment because I had to verify this exact procedure last week. Also, Tricare covers a consultation for in-vitro, but not the procedure on this one either.
