article so this new event in this article I wonder if this was a vehicle already repaired under the recall? My dad from day 1 has said he doesn't think it has a darn thing to do with pedals but the computer modules are at fault in this crap. (He's not on the PILOT team for nothing TOYOTA! not sure why they don't listen) Next, if it has been recalled and repaired, this just goes to show my point when I had a recall done a few years ago and now am having the same issues but the morons here say it can only be done one time and they won't do repairs under the recall again because "that work isn't under warranty anymore" LMAO well DUH I don't expect a recall to be under warranty, but what I do expect is that you MAKE it right.

I saw that on the news earlier this morning. Scary! Sad, I always loved Toyotas and flat out refuse to buy anymore union cars.

I heard it on the radio too this morning. I was really interested in the '11 Siennas too. Oh well.

That's scary. About a year or two ago while I was visiting my parents there was a bad accident on the interstate where a young woman died. They said she was going around 90+ mph when she lost control of her car. I remember it was one of those new redesigned Camrys and now with all of these recalls I wonder if that is what caused that accident. Luckily this guy was able to make a safe stop.

Luckily this guy was able to make a safe stop. yes but apparently he hasn't been paying attention to the "how to do so properly" instructions that have been given and neither were the 911 dispatchers. You are supposed to put your vehicle in NEUTRAL and let it coast. Applying the brakes does nothing for it.

dmc... --- 184 days ago -

MM, that's what dh said when we watched the news last night. He asked if the guy had time to call 911, why didn't he have time to shift gears?

sundevil03 --- 184 days ago -

They're death traps. Wait until all is said and done and everything starts coming out. Toyota has been sweeping this under the rug for years. You shouldn't have to put your car in neutral for it to not accelerate out of control.

He was aware of the floor mat issue and checked for that and he was scared to shift it out of gear at that speed. Good thing he was going uphill and not down when this happened!

He asked if the guy had time to call 911, why didn't he have time to shift gears? lol right You shouldn't have to put your car in neutral for it to not accelerate out of control. I completely agree with you, but Toyota isn't the only ones that have recall issues just as dangerous. Also when you don't know how to fix it, it's hard to officially recall something, I mean yes you can say don't drive them and we are working on a repair. But most people won't listen, most people don't have other vehicles available in times like that.

I wonder if this was a vehicle already repaired under the recall? the article I read on cnn said he took it to his mechanic with the recall notice and THEY told him it wasn't recalled...

~Monkey Manners~ --- 184 days ago -

He said on the news it was because his car wasn't in the list of recalls. that's what I was trying to find out I never saw it in the article (I didn't read it ALL of course) and never heard on the news.

Sikes said he took his 2008 Prius into a local Toyota dealership about two weeks ago for service and gave workers there his recall notice. He said he was told his car wasn't on the recall list. "I'll be back there tomorrow," he said Monday, visibly shaken up. CNN article

My mother drives a 2010 camry and they told her it wasn't recalled and they wouldn't touch it. I want to say she bought it in August, a month or so before all the news came out. She brought up the speculation about it being an electronic problem and they told her not to worry, "IT WAS JUST A MEDIA RUMOR." She just avoids highways. It really frustrates me. She's always bought old junkers and decided this year to "treat" herself.

At the same rate, when I had my problems, dad told me to call a regional office for Toyota and I did. Maybe she should do the same, from what I remember those cars are on the list. (but I am only going from memory which isn't great anymore)

I think the dealerships are either misinformed or being jerks because of the heavy overload of work they have due to the recalls effecting so many vehicles. This is another reason production in one entire plant was haulted in Ky.
