i heard that you have to be an AMCC resident to use that pool. anyone else hear this?

Cinde-freakin-rella --- 8 years ago -

i heard that you have to be an AMCC resident to use that pool. Yes, you do. You have to be a resident, and get a pool pass.

Jules --- 8 years ago -

i heard that you have to be an AMCC resident to use that pool. anyone else hear this? As well it should be. It's a COMMUNITY center. If you aren't an AMCC community resident, why should you be allowed to use the pool? The CC is very nice. I've been in a lot and love it more each time!

Cinde-freakin-rella --- 8 years ago -

~Bea~ --- 8 years ago -

I'm not an AMCC resident. =(

IMSleepngbty --- 8 years ago -

We went earlier and got a pass for the family and one each for the teenagers. We spoke to the cc manager and were told all the kids needed was their pass and they were good to go to the pool. The kids did go to the pool but were told by the older lifeguard that they needed to bring their military ID every time they came to the pool along with the pass. Also that all families need to bring them along with pass to the pool. May I ask why go through the trouble of getting a pass and all with verification for the kids IF they still have to do so by the freaking lifeguard. The one who thinks she is freaking GOD! I did go and talked to her and she said that they have to visually verify that the kid is 14. I am sorry; but the cc manager already did that. Right before she signed and issued the passes. WTH!

Cinde-freakin-rella --- 8 years ago -

I'm assuming that's so they can make sure you're not letting some friend of your child, who is UNDER their set age limit, use another child's pass. It's a CYA type of thing.

Someone --- 8 years ago -

It's so weird that Jacksonville has no public pools! It sucks :-(

Jules --- 8 years ago -

I don't have an issue with the pass, but I don't recall seeing anything about it in the letter sent to residents, nor can I find that information on the AMCC website. I DO have a problem being a resident, and I can't even use the pool. Also, you have to be 12 to go to the indoor pool alone, which is much much deeper. Doesn't make sense to me, but then again, not much makes sense to me these days.

So your kid has to show ID. It's not biggie. They should have it with them at all times anyway. =/

Vaya con Dios --- 8 years ago -

They should have it with them at all times anyway Mine don't. I keep it with me.

Cinde-freakin-rella --- 8 years ago -

Anyone know when the playground up there will be done? I'll use that more than I'll ever use the pool.. I don't go out in public in a bathing suit if I can help it.

Mermaid --- 8 years ago -

Mine don't. I keep it with me. Me too. It has SS#'s on it. I'm not trusting our daughter to keep up with it.

Cinde-freakin-rella --- 8 years ago -

Mine only takes her ID with her when it's potentially necessary.. she never gets asked for her ID tho! (she's only 11).

~Bea~ --- 8 years ago -

Well, now they have to take it with them to the pool. =)

WTH! i dont see the big deal...if you've ever went to TT its the same thing. i think its a good idea to show your ID...at least then you dont have to worry about civilians coming in and taking advantage of your ammenities =] JMO

Jules --- 8 years ago -

I am not satisfied with this pool and all the rules. We were there about 10 minutes before it closed due to a chemical imbalance...right. The lifeguard was yacking on her cell phone the ENTIRE time we were there - not watching the kids. The rule of "must be within arm's length of all children 6 and under" is ridiculous to me. My kids swim like a fish, but because I don't want to get in the pool, they have to cling to the sides (while the lifeguards guard nothing but their phones...) I think we'll be going to mostly to the indoor pool from now on.

dmc... --- 8 years ago -

can you make an ICE comment about the pool? Since it's not an MCCS facility?

Jules --- 8 years ago -

dmc, I don't know. A lot of parents were complaining though, so I'm sure someone is ICEing right now!! I think ICE is only for MCCS?

dmc... --- 8 years ago -

yeah, I don't know. Maybe try it and see? Or go to the AMCC website and complain? I know you can ICE the NH, and it's not MCCS. Wow, I need a few more acronyms in that post.

~Bea~ --- 8 years ago -

The lifeguard was yacking on her cell phone the ENTIRE time we were there - not watching the kids. Those cells should be put in a locker! Definately complain Jules.

jab20 --- 8 years ago -

indoor pool Where's that?

jab20 --- 8 years ago -

The lifeguard was yacking on her cell phone the ENTIRE time we were there - not watching the kids. My neighbor told me you have to "sign in" with the lifeguard when you get there. That takes their eyes off their job, too... along with the cell phone. I hope you do complain, Jules... for the safety of everyone.

Jules --- 8 years ago -

Behind the theater. I like it. No sun, lifeguards actually guard lives, kids can swim outside of arms reach, they have diving boards, swin tests for kids to be in deep end, and pool toys like car floats and noodles!
