Now there's the problem he was just dumb...if you're gonna look that ridiculous and know it's improper you don't admit you're a Marine I was told the Marine can get in trouble if he doesn't admit he's a Marine if asked, also if the wive is asked, and she says she's not a Marine spouse she will get him in trouble also. Is that true? If a Marine Wife does something stupid then she can get the Marine into trouble but not admitting she is a Marine Wife I don't think so.

DeviousAmaris --- 9 years ago -

my husband apologized and told him he had been at the hospital since 4:30 ... it didn't matter ... he was still supposed to have been clean shaven. Ridiculous. I swear. My husband is always having to yell at me and tell me to sit down cause I start going off on someone when they do sh*t like that. lol I usually have to leave.

It is disgusting. Do you have any idea how dirty planes and other public places are??? And you want to wear THING pj pants on them??? I cleaned up PUKE on a seat and then 15 mins later someone else was sitting on that seat...you may not care about getting flithy but it is gross. We are the worst generation yet, we have NO respect for anyone BUT OURSELVES and I have no problem upholding the USMC standard of what is appropriate if they want to retain any kind of moral value in thier system. Those moral values start at home, with thier FAMILIES. I didn't stand on the yellow footprints, but my husband and both grandfatthers did and I think I owe it to them to show a little respect for the USMC that they served for. This makes no sense. If you have pants(Jean, sweats,PJ bottoms, etc) on your butt and legs are covered. So the sitting in the seat analogy goes out the window.

THe sad thing is, here in the states, the dress code is not enforced as much as it is overseas. If you go over there and they see something they don't like, they'll chew your a$$ for it. They are pretty srict over there. Well at least when I was there they were. Exactly, my kids grew up overseas basically and coming stateside my son used to be shocked when he would hear people cussing. At that time they weren't exposed to an American civvie world, but when he heard service members cussing up a storm and in uniform he could not understand that either. One of the many culture shocks coming back state side.

Now coming back here like you said was a shock to me, I was like what a bunch of sh*tbags. lol

I don't wear sweats or PT type gear on base(except the gym) I don't wear flip flops on base either but that doesn't mean I dress to the nines. I'm happy in my jeans ,tee shirts and sneakers.

Penny --- 9 years ago -

My husband just told me the other day that flip flops are now considered proper civilian attire. He didn't specify that they had to have a certain type of sole on them either. Just flip flops in general. I've worn my flip flops everywhere around base and no one has ever said anything.

FlippyFloppies --- 9 years ago -

13 pages...this thing has probably evolved into an entirely different topic now, but I go the gym in the morning and will go to the commissary or exchange afterwards, sweaty as all get out and in my "athletic" gear lol. No one has ever said anything to me. I'd rather save the gas than drive 25 minutes home to shower and change clothe s then drive 25 minutes back to base.

M.A.D.R.E --- 9 years ago -

I am not reading this whole thread right now....but I was told that you couldn't dress like you are about to begin your shift as a pole dancer. Either way- Judging by what I saw at the air show this weekend- Most women are not at all concerned with what they look like in public. There were a few times on Sat that I was unsure if I was at a "family" event or auditions for the newest Girls Gone Wild video. R doesn't tell me how to dress, but if he got his jollies from seeing my butt crack and cleavage in public- I would probably think he was trash.

Sasha --- 9 years ago -

13 pages...this thing has probably evolved into an entirely different topic now, Oddly enough ... nope!

dmc... --- 9 years ago -

I'm not reading thru 13 pages. lol Dress Code, funny subject. Even in a room full of MSGTs, THEY DON'T KNOW THE RULES. so for her to say her husband would know better, she's full of caca. lmao That's the funniest thing I have heard in awhile. Thank you so much for that.

Dove --- 9 years ago -

also if the wive is asked, and she says she's not a Marine spouse she will get him in trouble also. Is that true? Pleas tell me HOW SHE will get in trouble? Does she report to a command or something? If someone asked me personally, I have no reason to lie about it. But if I did lie about it, How would that get me into trouble? With whom? With my husband maybe, thats about it.

3Kleebs --- 9 years ago -

The only place I've seen the dress code posted was the PX and the Commissary. I have personally almost always gone in the commissary wearing sweats of some kind, with flip flops. I have never seen anyone get repramanded for wearing flip flops. I personally feel if they are going to say we can't wear sweats, then they need to look at some wives and say they can't wear revealing clothes, such as mini skirts to where you can see a butt cheak.

Dove --- 9 years ago -

If a Marine Wife does something stupid then she can get the Marine into trouble If a wife of a military service member verbally makes a fuss about something, I dont see how that would get her husband into trouble. If she got out and commited a crime or got arrested, maybe I could see why his command may say something to him, but GET IN TROUBLE? See, I love my husband, I love that he is in the Marines, but I am not. When they say "JUMP", he is the one asking "HOW HIGH", not me.

Utterly Unpredictable --- 9 years ago -

he is the one asking "HOW HIGH", not me. most likely being a Marine he just starts jumping tehehe I couldn't help it I say it to my hubby all the time

Dove --- 9 years ago -

My husband is a good Marine, and I am proud of him. Its HIS job. When he comes home, Im the boss. (JUST JOKING)

Utterly Unpredictable --- 9 years ago -

When he comes home, Im the boss. HAHA Heck yes that's the way it should be.

3Kleebs --- 9 years ago -

When he comes home, Im the boss. (JUST JOKING) aaahhh we know you're not kidding!!!!!! lol!

MonkeysMommy08 --- 9 years ago -

no flip flops either, they are actually considered "shower shoes" are you kidding me? Thats all I own....when your pregnant its all you can really wear cuase you dont have to bend over!

dmc... --- 9 years ago -

The only place I've seen the dress code posted was the PX and the Commissary. it's in the bowling alley. Well, the sports bar. Right as you walk in, it's right behind the garbage can. lmao My dh was told that even those posters are incorrect. No one aboard Camp Lejeune is for sure what the dress code it. Typically PT gear is frowned upon anywhere (I wouldn't wear sweats to Walmart lol).

Muse Heather --- 9 years ago -

this thread made me think about the fact that i havent seen my favorite pair of (garishly) pink sweats in a while. i just called J and asked if he had seen them and was responded to by dead silence... then he admitted that he threw them away while i was packing to come up!!!! wtf? i know he hates them, but i only wear them in the house.. geez.

dmc... --- 9 years ago -

bwahahahahaha heather! That's funny. You'll have something special next time you come home. I bet he now feels guilty. lol

Muse Heather --- 9 years ago -

I bet he now feels guilty he should. i pretended to cry and told him they were a gift from my friend that moved to Arkansas.

~TootSieRoLL~ --- 9 years ago -

Wanna know what's really funny!?!?! A guy came in our shop tonight with a shirt we had put chevrons on, and said that his GSGT ripped him twice because the chevrons were supposed to be 4 inches from the top seam in the sleeve. HAHA big goober was wrong!! I looked at the guy and was like, "Our seamstress has been doing this for 17 years, I think she knows what she's doing...." She got the books out and everything and showed him. Shows just how much some ppl know about the "dress code" but geeez you'd think he would have known that!!! haha

~TootSieRoLL~ --- 9 years ago -

That was my giggle for the night!! =)

dmc... --- 9 years ago -

my husband always hated the ruler at inspections.

~TootSieRoLL~ --- 9 years ago -

the seamstresses at my work are awesome!! that guy said it was wrong and i almost laughed in his face as soon as he said it.

Someone --- 9 years ago -

Sorry for bringing up the old topic, I'm just now getting done reading it. I thought like 6ish months ago they said you are no longer allowed to get out of your car for any reason off base in cammies. That you can't get gas at the gas station or pick up a kid from daycare or anything else unless a real emergency? Camp Lejeune is private property, they can tell you to wear whatever they want to. Doesn't mean we have to think it's fair, but it's our privilege (not right) to have access to Camp Lejeune and therefor most follow their rules--even if they said every woman must wear a dress to her ankles. It's the same as if you asked your company to remove their shoes or not smoke in your house---your house, your rules. I was ticked off once because my husband went to work one day and the person who had duty that night ended up being out of town so last minute my husband had to stand duty. Except he had to go straight from work to duty to work the next morning (across the hall) and therefor had to go to the 7 day store and buy a new razor and shaving cream. I thought they should have allowed him to go home and retrieve it or give him a pass. I understood, but thought it was crap. Since he didn't know he'd have duty, he also wasn't able to pack any food so he had to spend a bunch of money on junk which he wasn't happy about.
